Vegetable oils have many advantages in horse feeding:
1.They are a source of energy:
The addition of oil increases the energy density of a ration without increasing the volume of feed. In energy equivalent, 1L of vegetable oil = 3 kg of barley!
2.They are involved in muscle metabolism:
The use of lipids (oils) in the ration helps to save glycogen stocks (source of energy in the muscle) and therefore delay the onset of fatigue during an effort.
3.These are sources of omega 3 and 6:
Omega 3 and 6 are "essential fatty acids", i.e. they cannot be synthesized by the body.
The addition of oil to the horse's ration will lead to additional requirements in anti-oxidants, as the oxidation of fatty acids produces free radicals. Thus, vitamin E is able to trap these free radicals following oxidative stress.
OMEGA 3 6 9 is a source of essential fatty acids thanks to corn oil (important source of omega 6), rapeseed oil (source of omega 9) and flaxseed oil (important source of omega 3) which it provides in ideal proportions. The OMEGA 3 6 9 formula also provides a major antioxidant, vitamin E, which complements the addition of oils to the ration.
Our advice: do not exceed 5 - 7 % of oil in the concentrate ration for racehorses and 8 - 12 % in the concentrate ration for horses atendurance. Never exceed 500 ml/day of oil per horse.

- Horse : 50 to 70 ml per day.
