The Philips reins are two individual belts, which are turned in the same way as running reins the girth through the snaffle rings to the horse. They are used for riding and lunging, but are also ideal for working with young horses. The Philip reins are ideal for professional lunging. The horse's freedom of movement can vary depending on whether the triangle is increased or decreased. The further apart the leather straps are, the larger the lateral triangle and the horse has more room to move up and down. In addition, a wide buckle provides good lateral stability and allows horses that like with the outside shoulder to dodge a frame to the outside. Each rider or sparer can also connect the Philips reins so that they are as stiff and use as normal side reins as a direct and constant support.
