Resting belts for horses ThermobootDiscover the rest bands Zandona Thermoboot, the perfect blend of comfort and advanced therapy for your horse.
THERMOBOOT is a special resting protector from the Zandonà Therapeutic Line, developed specifically for applying hot/cold therapies directly to a horse's tendons and joints.
Made from neoprene with an aluminium thermal coating for better insulation and extended hot/cold effect, this knee brace includes 3D grid padding for optimal hot/cold transfer and to protect the horse's skin from burns.
The unique shape of the THERMOBOOT has been developed to ensure stability and comfort during use, promoting optimal contact with the tendons and joints.
The excellent fastening system ensures a perfect fit at the extremity and is equipped with an "easy-pull" tab for safe and quick removal of the product.
Regular use of the THERMOBOOT for short periods (20-30 minutes) after intense exercise can help prevent minor injuries and/or trauma to the ligaments, tendons, and joints, as well as reduce swelling, overheating, and localized pain.
THERMOBOOT can be used on both the horse's forelimbs and hindlimbs.
Contains two gel packs (one for each protector).
COLD THERAPY
Cold therapy can be used as a daily treatment for your horse.
During intense effort, micro-traumas occur in the capillaries, tendons, and ligaments. The resulting hyperaemia can persist and facilitate inflammatory effects.
Cold therapy allows for vasoconstriction, reduces the activity of proteolytic enzymes, decreases the influence of inflammatory processes and toxins, and provides pain relief to recover circulatory conditions after effort. The sooner the temperature of the tendon can be reduced after exercise, the better the outcome.
THERMOBOOT can also help treat bruises, sprains, injuries, strains, and damage to tendons and joints.
In cases of severe injuries where hyperextension of the fetlock has occurred, ice therapy is required, and the THERMOBOOT can be used for sessions of 20-30 minutes 4 times or more per day.
The initial stages of the injury are crucial: the earlier it is applied, the better. In these serious cases, the continuous use of cold therapy combined with a controlled exercise programme is essential for recovery and to speed up the rehabilitation process.
NOTE: IT IS RECOMMENDED TO USE COLD THERAPY UNDER THE ADVICE OF YOUR VETERINARIAN
IF SEVERE SYMPTOMS PERSIST, CONSULT YOUR VETERINARIAN IMMEDIATELY.
HEAT THERAPY
Heat therapy is ideal for promoting blood flow to a specific area of the body, eliminating residual inflammation, promoting the influx of nutrients, and thus healing.
Heat can also be beneficial before exercise and for horses suffering from arthritis. The application of heat can increase the elasticity of soft tissues, flexibility, and muscle mobility during exercise. Heat also acts as a temporary analgesic, reducing pain.
Heat should be introduced gradually into the horse's recovery regimen after an injury to avoid excess heat too soon leading to bleeding.
In cases of swelling episodes, apply heat only when the swelling has not increased for at least 24 hours.
Alternating heat and cold therapy, gradually increasing the time of heat use and decreasing the time of cold use with each session, will allow you to use only heat therapy at maximum.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
It is important to take a gradual approach to acclimatise your horse to hot/cold therapy to achieve all the benefits of the treatment.
Tendon injuries can benefit from cold during the initial stages (24-48 hours after injury) to reduce inflammation. After 48 hours, heat therapy can be used to increase blood flow to the treated area to aid the healing process.
If a tendon injury is suspected, it is recommended to consult with your veterinarian before applying hot/cold therapy to any injury.
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
COLD APPLICATION
The goal of cold therapy is to interrupt the cycle of the inflammatory response before it causes cellular damage. Cold treatment significantly reduces the amount of tissue lost due to secondary injuries.
Keep the gel packs in the freezer so they're always ready to use. Freeze the gel packs for at least 2-3 hours before using.
Insert the gel packs into the pockets of the THERMOBOOTs. Do not apply directly to the skin.
Leave the THERMOBOOTs on the horse's extremities for a maximum of 20-30 minutes per session. Press firmly to ensure correct application. Check that the velcro fastenings are secure, without being too tight.
Remove the THERMOBOOTs after 20 minutes and repeat the cold application every hour or hour and a half if necessary. Consult your veterinarian for prolonged use.
HEAT APPLICATION
The purpose of heat therapy is to dilate blood vessels, increasing blood flow to the area where the heat is applied. As a result, there is a greater influx of nutrients and oxygen to the affected area, promoting healing. This treatment can help relax muscles and may increase the elasticity of connective tissues in the treated area to improve their performance.
- Use with HOT WATER
Boil about 4-5 litres of water.
Once it starts boiling, remove the water from the heat source. Submerge the gel packs in boiling water for about 10 minutes. Remove the gel packs from the water and place them in the pockets of the THERMOBOOTs. Do not apply directly to the skin. Apply to the area to be treated in intervals of 20 minutes. Press firmly to ensure correct application. Check that the velcro fastenings are secure, without being too tight.
Do not leave the horse unattended when using the THERMOBOOTs, always monitor its condition.
Repeat therapy up to three or four times a day. Consult your veterinarian for prolonged use.
- Use with MICROWAVE
Microwave ovens have different wattages, so it's necessary to find the right heating time that your microwave provides. It is recommended not to exceed 650W.
Before putting the gel packs in the microwave, flatten them and ensure the gel inside is evenly distributed.
If the gel packs are at room temperature, set the microwave to full power and heat for 10 seconds, then let sit for 1 minute. If you need to heat further, try again for 10 seconds with the same resting time until the desired temperature is reached.
If the gel packs have been stored in the freezer, set the microwave to full power and initially heat for 15 seconds, then let sit for 90 seconds. Then reheat in increments of 10 seconds with the same resting time until the desired temperature is reached.
Note the total time used as a reference for your future use.
Insert the gel packs into the pockets of the THERMOBOOTs. Do not apply directly to the skin.
Apply to the area to be treated in intervals of 20 minutes. Press firmly to ensure correct application. Check that the velcro fastenings are secure, without being too tight.
Do not leave the horse unattended when using the THERMOBOOTs, and always monitor it.
Repeat therapy up to three or four times a day. Consult your veterinarian for prolonged use.
WARNINGS:
Intense cold or heat can cause damage, discomfort and you could injure yourself if your horse has a negative reaction.
Additionally, applying cold and heat for prolonged periods can damage the skin and underlying structures. A gradual introduction to therapy is necessary to ensure minimal stress. Cold therapy should be applied for intervals not exceeding 20 minutes. Movement of the cold source is essential: it is recommended to regularly move the cold gel packs to ensure that the underlying tissues are not damaged. You should not leave your horse unattended during the entire duration of THERMOBOOT application.
Even with heat therapy, it is recommended to apply the gel compresses in intervals not exceeding 20 minutes. Make sure to check the temperature of the heat source on your skin to ensure it is not too intense. It is also important to keep the horse warm after thermotherapy, using blankets to prevent the temperature from dropping too quickly. Never leave your horse unattended during application.
You should always consult your veterinarian before undertaking these heat therapies, especially in cases of injury recovery.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THERMOBOOT:
Remove the gel packs from both THERMOBOOTs;
Make sure to close all velcro fastenings;
Place the THERMOBOOTs in special washing machine bags to protect them during washing;
Delicate machine wash at 30°C;
Leave to dry away from heat.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS FOR GEL PACKS:
