Vegan, sustainable and unique - the spur straps "Cortica" made of cork

Cork products have long been a sustainable alternative to leather outside of riding. Until now, however, they have not been widely used in the equestrian sector. We want to change that now. We are one of the few equestrian companies that now offer vegan riding accessories made of cork. We want to leave a sustainable footprint and offer vegan horse lovers a great alternative to leather. For almost two years, the products were developed and tested from every angle, then modified and adapted. The result is our sustainable, vegan "Cortica" collection, which includes a bridle, reins, headcollar, headbands, chaps, booties and spur straps.

Cork fabric - the vegan leather
Sustainable & vegan
As the bark of the cork oak tree, cork is a renewable and biodegradable raw material. The cork oak tree can live for over 300 years and is manually debarked every 12 years or so during its lifetime. This makes the tree more resistant and ensures the longevity of cork oak forests, which protect against soil erosion and fix several times more CO2 than autres trees. A large proportion of cork oaks grow at Portugal, where they form a very important ecosystem for many rare animals.

Resistant & unique
Cork fabric, also known as cork leather, is very resistant to tearing and wear and tear and is also water repellent. The cork sheets from the bark are joined together with an organic glue to form larger sheets and are cut finely. They are then put together like a puzzle and applied to a fabric backing, then sealed, and finally can be made into cork fabric. Like leather, each cork fabric is a unique piece.

Easy care
Cork products can be cared for only by lightly wiping them with a damp cloth or sponge.
