In the first few days after calving, or even just after birth, the young calf's diet is decisive for its further development. Colostrum contains more immunoglobulins and nutrients than ordinary cow's milk.
That's why newborn calves need to be given more high-quality colostrum immediately. It is advisable to stock up on frozen colostrum.
This ensures constant availability of quality colostrum. If colostrum is of poor quality after birth (e.g. for heifers), or if the quantity of colostrum is insufficient, the frozen colostrum reserve will help meet the needs of newborn calves.
