Description
The Hanging Cheek is a fixed cheek bit that promotes flexion, which makes this bit especially useful for horses with a high head carriage. It can also be useful for horses that are unsure of the bit because it has limited movement in the mouth.
The Waterford bit is made up of a series of ball-shaped links, which makes it completely mobile in all directions. It is especially popular for problems such as leaning, bit grip and jaw set. When the horse tries to grab the bit, the mouthpiece collapses, leaving the horse with nothing rigid to hold on to.
Brass alloy is formed when copper is alloyed with a harder metal, producing a warm, durable material that is perfect for horse bits because it can facilitate salivation and be more palatable to the horse. This Waterford with hanging cheeks is ideal for stronger horses that may also have a high head carriage. To be effective, it should be worn 1/4" to 1/2" wider than standard.
Measurements
In accordance with our size guide, the A and B measurements for this bit are:
A=17mm
B=110mm
Note: The C measurement is taken between the first links of the chain at each end. It does not correspond to the total length of the mouthpiece.
